Younger Toyota’s Tips For Avoiding Getting Stuck In The Mud:

  • If you’re driving through muddy roads, continue a constant pressure on the gas pedal and avoid coming to a stop. Hopefully, this will be the only thing you need to do to get out of the mud or keep you from getting stuck!
  • Once your vehicle is stuck, you’re stuck and it’s time to try and wriggle free. While putting a little pressure on the gas pedal, shift between drive and reverse. This will begin to create a rocking motion that will hopefully free your vehicle.
  • Try and add some traction to increase your chances of getting unstuck. Wedge a floor mat, blanket, scrap of cardboard, or whatever other object you have available under your tires. Once you have your object in place, slowly accelerate until your tires regain traction.
  • Keep a small shovel in your vehicle so that you can dig your tires out! Or come up with a makeshift shovel using a stick or spare travel mug. Regardless, you want to try to dig out the mud from around your tires and try to create a clean, clear path back to solid ground. Once your path is clear, hop in and gently accelerate. If that still doesn’t work, consider calling for a tow!
